THEMATIC SESSION: Building our Future – The potential of the buildings sector and building materials for a climate neutral world

The event will present first results of research projects focusing on buildings and building materials. Specific studies and topics to be touched upon are: 1) the Building Materials Study from the GlobalABC and Yale CEA; 2) GHG Reductions in the urban construction sector from the German Environment Agency and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research; and 3) Study on regenerative building from Bauhaus der Erde.

The panelists will discuss how to best incorporate scientific knowledge in advocacy to promote sustainable building materials and strengthen climate action as well as inform and improve governance and policy-making processes at all levels. In line with the GlobalABC’s work and mission, the objective of this event is to show how scientific approaches address the challenge of diverse actors, like national and subnational governments, specialists and the private sector in tackling climate change in the buildings and construction sector.
