Building for a Billion: The Resilient Housing Implementation Lab
November 10, 2022 @ 4:45 pm - 6:15 pm EET
16:45 – 18:15 (EET)
As climate-related disasters have become more frequent and more severe, houses and people across the globe are more vulnerable than ever before, with 40% of the world projected to live in substandard housing by 2030.
It is within this framework that the High-Level Champions identified a key breakthrough in the sector: that 1 bn people have better design, construction and access to finance to live in decent, safe, affordable and climate-resilient homes.
This interactive and dynamic discussion will catalyze action for this breakthrough by confronting three key questions for progress:
- What policies and programs have been effective at channeling resources towards resilient housing?
- How can we reframe resilient housing as both a global development need and a key investment opportunity?
- What is needed for systems transformation to not only recover in the housing sector, but also to prevent future losses and damages?
Through a cross-sectoral exchange, this session will showcase innovation and leadership in climate-resilient housing, and identify gaps and opportunities to advance progress for resilient futures and communities.
