Communities as Living Organisms
November 15, 2022 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm EET
11:30 – 13:00 (EET)
Living in neighbourhoods designed to be regenerative and restorative, will help us optimise human health and sustain food security. Communities, architects, designers, ecologists, and urban planners must come together to forge ecosystem-centered approaches to this that brings housing, natural ecosystems, and food production together. This type of sensitive urban planning should embrace our heightened understanding of our oneness with nature, elements of biomimicry design, and the use of frontier technologies, to deliver newly transformed neighbourhoods that mirror ecological patterns within a new interconnected world of symbiotic biomes.
The event is centered around the visualization beyond the typical urban/rural, human/nature divisions so conceptually common to the present day and into a reformulation of the human community extending itself into nature, acting as one living organism. Speakers will not be stuck in a siloed way of approaching areas of thought, philosophy and practice but rather exchange among themselves and the audience their ideas, projects and experiences in enhancing planetary communities and their well-being. The conversation will visualize a community as a dynamic, living organism that is transformed and equitable to all.
