Carbon neutral building energy systems for sustainable energy transition in cities
November 15 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm EET
17:00 – 18:00 (EET)
Despite only covering 3% of the earth’s surface, cities are responsible for up to 80% of the world’s energy consumption and 75% of carbon emissions. With continued city growth, it is estimated that by 2050, more than two-thirds of the world’s population will live in urban areas – up from 55% today. Setting up low-carbon and efficient building energy systems can definitely accelerate the overall energy transition for carbon neutral cities. However, in the journey for such kinds of sustainable building energy systems, support from technical providers (mainly private sector), policy-makers and energy agencies are crucial. The side event is bringing these main stakeholders to share their opinions and lessons learnt with a focus on developing countries and emerging economies.
