By 2050, Africa’s fast-growing population will make up a quarter of the global population. In our changing climate, buildings, which account for 39% of carbon emissions, must not only decarbonise, but also accommodate growing populations and be climate resilient. In regions that are most vulnerable to the impact of severe climate change, how can governments, communities and businesses rapidly scale building solutions that are low-carbon, equitable and sustainable? What will it take – technologically, socially, politically and economically – to get from commitment to capacity to completion?
